Biography

Hi, my name is Beth Martin and I’m a graduate of Product and Furniture Design.

I am a product designer who is constantly trying to change our usual perceptions of using a product and add a playful nature to design either through using the product or its form. By designing a playful product, I believe it can create a bond between itself and the user that will result in less waste as the product can age alongside the user and then eventually be passed down to others. I also find that design that doesn’t distract from the user experience creates an intuitive product that everyone can use and can make it timeless.

The Hemi collection combines personality and ease of use in a family of fun kitchen products that will delight the user. The range focuses on the user-product interaction, providing joy and a sense of accomplishment when undertaking the task whilst improving usability and functionality. Each of the four products have been designed for disassembly at the end of their life, with no adhesives or dual-shot mouldings incorporated. Hemi is made from a combination of HDPE, glass-filled acetal, ABS, and glass-filled nylon, which will be manufactured through injection moulding.
