My name is Kyle, and I am an architecture student with a passion for historic buildings. I love the intricacies of the designs and the stories that they tell. Beyond my love for architecture, I also have a passion for skateboarding amongst other board sports. While some may see this as a trivial hobby, it has allowed me to see the built landscape in a way others may not.
Architecture was never something I intended to pursue. When I first started in foundation year, I had little to no artistic ability or understanding of architecture. However, my love for old buildings continued to grow, and I found myself drawn to the idea of designing spaces that could tell a story.
During my studies, I have taken the opportunity to study some of the most iconic buildings in the world. From the ancient ruins of Rome to the towering skyscrapers of New York, each structure has its own unique story to tell. As I continue to learn, I am constantly inspired by the ways in which architects have used design to convey meaning and emotion.
But it is not just the grandeur of these buildings that fascinates me. I am equally drawn to the small details that can be found in historic architecture. From the intricate carvings on a doorframe to the subtle variations in brickwork, each element tells a part of the building’s story.
Through my passion for skateboarding, I have also come to appreciate the importance of flow and movement in architecture. Whether it’s the curves of a half-pipe or the smooth transitions between rooms in a building, flow is essential to creating a space that feels both functional and comfortable.
I am excited to continue exploring the ways in which design can be used to tell a story. Whether it’s through the grandeur of a historic building or the subtle details of a modern design, I believe that architecture has the power to inspire, to move, and to tell a story that is uniquely its own.
