Throughout my degree, I have been exploring how architecture is impacted by and contributes to social injustices, and how architecture can be a part of the solution. Being a feminist has strengthened my critical analysis into issues of equality and inequality that exists within spatial design.
My final project Desire Paths works to reduce social injustices that are present in access to public transport. My architectural intervention centres around a proposed cycle route that connects all bus routes and train stations in Bordesley Green. To support the use of this cycle route, cycling amenities will be implemented such as bicycle hire, bicycle repair, and cycle proficiency. Providing knowledge and infrastructure for cycling will make this transport option more viable and accessible to residents of Bordesley Green.
I particularly enjoy art; I try to inject this into the way I craft and create my work. Writing is also important to me: I am always thinking about the best way to express through written and spoken word. This degree has been such a rewarding challenge in many different ways; I am excited for what comes next.
