Hi, I’m Lucy, a third year student studying Interior Architecture and Design with a passion for creating community led spaces in the hospitality industry. I believe all spaces should be designed with the user at the centre of the design process, to ensure the space is naturally enhancing their experience. I enjoy the creative process from start to finish, seeing the conceptual models turn into interesting design solutions that work alongside practicality and functionality. I draw inspiration through sensory led design and how humans naturally interact with spaces, which is something I will research further at Ma level in the next few years.
Introducing my final major project: The Neighbourhood nook is a bakery and community hot spot located in the city centre of Birmingham. The design intent behind this project was to create a space that could connect the older and younger generation of Birmingham with a focus on interaction through cooking, baking and sensory interaction. The multi-generational use of the bakery will reduce the risk of social isolation among the elderly but will teach children how to use basic kitchen equipment to cook healthy meals.
