I am a Part I BA (Hons) Architecture graduate. Throughout my studies, I have been passionate about creating meaningful design; in particular, I am interested in how symbolic conceptual thinking can transfer into built form, whilst also working to physically solve social issues faced today.
My final project, Mig[ra]phy, is a thesis that explores how we can use the ideas of chronophotography as a means of capturing choreography to create a series of spaces that respond to the unaccompanied migrant child’s journey. In a sense the architecture is formed from the traces of choreography, as it responds to the ‘highs’ and ‘lows’ faced by the unaccompanied migrant children seeking refuge in the UK. Not only is the architectural form a metaphorical representation of their journey towards integrating into our existing society, but it also physically provides the necessary facilities and environments to address each phase along their journey.
