I am an Interior Architecture and Design graduate who has spent three years transforming from a newbie to a designer with multiple skills and passions. The most prominent passion I have discovered is for retail design. I am fascinated by how truly understanding the brand you’re designing for and making simple changes to layouts can completely alter the spaces success.
This project was a chance for me to research/understand more about retail design to prepare me for my future. I have learnt and implemented several visual merchandising techniques such as window displays, colour/lighting psychology, wayfinding and focal points including point of purchase displays. I worked hard to fully understand the ASOS brand, ensuring I created a space which encapsulated ASOS and created a stronger connection between brand and consumer therefor increasing sale. Finally, my project delved into how utilising experiential design helps to creates a space which goes above and beyond what ecommerce offers. Our current retail climate is experiencing a decline in physical retail, how can other stores take inspiration from my design to create retail experiences which rival the ease of ecommerce?
