Final Year Project: Patterns With Meaning. The UK has experienced a 365% increase in Islamophobia incidents since last year (Independent, 2024), largely due to the assault on Gaza in occupied Palestine. To combat this, promoting Islamic culture and beauty through minimalist nesting table structures with calligraphy, geometric patterns, and vegetal designs was essential. These designs symbolise unity, faith, and harmony, allowing Muslims to connect with their cultural and religious heritage and introducing non-Muslims to these traditions. The geometric designs represent the unity of Muslims through tessellation. The floral patterns symbolise a stylised version of paradise's vegetal, offering hope for reuniting with loved ones in paradise. The Arabic design incorporates the lyrics of the song "We Will Stay Here" by the singer Fadl Shaker. It emphasises the bravery and resilience of Palestinians and Muslims of the Middle East, highlighting their strength in staying strong amidst destruction without leaving their lands. All are presented in authentic Muslim Iznik colours, to enhance the cultural significance of these patterns. -
