Mia Banks

Biography

Mia Banks is a multidisciplinary artist, with an interest in providing validation to undervalued materials and textures within the everyday. This takes the form of extracting pre-existing textures, through replicating them by hand from familiar sites onto surfaces, in addition to transforming found objects into sculptural artworks.

Through this method of extraction she aims for the audience to pay more direct attention to their surroundings; to see how everyday undervalued surfaces and materials can be transformed into artworks.
