In the modern fast-paced, high-pressure society, people become more and more impetuous, more and more pressure. So calm and relaxed life has become the pursuit of contemporary people. I think this is exactly the philosophy of Zen in eastern culture, that people should pursue a peaceful, tolerant and simple life so that their soul can be set free.
Therefore, my “Under Umbrella” project uses traditional Chinese culture and Zen philosophy as the conceptual background, the Zen aesthetic of “nature, ethereal, calm and simple” as the design foundation, and the Chinese oil-paper umbrella as the idea inspiration, which aims to pursue the beauty and tranquility in my project design. My goal is to present the traditional Chinese culture and Zen in the jewelry design in a contemporary way, and create a unique and peaceful Oriental visual language so that more people can pay attention to and understand the Oriental traditional culture and Zen behind it. So I want people to feel a moment of peace and relaxation when they are “Under Umbrella”.
