Liuxiu is a jewellery designer and maker from China, graduated in Jewellery and Objects from Birmingham City University in 2023. Her has focused on the role and function of jewellery in human life, the relationship between jewellery and the wearer attracted her to create interactive pieces that encourage audience play with them rather than just wearing the item.
Liuxiu’s latest collection, “Intercommunication in Comedy”, has discussed the relationship between comedians and their audience. She designed a series of jewellery based on comedy audiences’ engagement during comedy performance, such as their interaction with the comedian on stage and how affecting perform rhythm as people beyond stage. Participation is one of the key elements in this series, therefore, Liuxiu made jewellery pieces in different scales and combined different materials, which in order to express positive attitude on touching, wearing, or playing.
