Shanna Williamson is an emerging jewellery designer-maker. Her work revolves around discovering the beauty in this world, despite the challenges and pain it can bring. For Shanna, creativity brings her a sense of peace, something she looks for in her day to day. Making jewellery is something she can create to share with others, to bring them a sparkle of hope.
Shanna draws inspiration from the organic shapes found in nature through her love of photography. She combines metal with found objects, along with using skills such as wire work, enamelling and textiles, to create wearable art.
In her current collection ‘Places of Peace’, she looks at common places of peace, making jewellery related to the beach, the countryside, and her home. She wanted to make these places of peace into, what she calls, wearable art, for the wearer to have with them on a day to day, associating the piece with the same feelings the place gives them. Shanna makes both statement pieces and smaller delicate pieces.
The intensions behind her making are to give the wearer an emotional connection with the jewellery, to remind them to look for the beauty in life, embracing all that comes with it.
