Shropshire-born and based, Ed James is a young, exciting designer/maker of bespoke and elegant hand-made jewellery, following a passion for artisan craft.
Ed blends technology and traditional skills to create unique pieces from precious metals and chosen gems. Combining the inspirational development of an idea with a client, he uses drawings and mood boards alongside Computer Aided Design (CAD) with the latest industry software. He turns this, through hand and factory crafting skills, into fine finishing for a desired, unique product.
He formed Ed James Jewellery while studying at the world-famous Birmingham Jewellery School to promote his interest in artisan, hand-made, bespoke jewellery that can be commissioned or made to order; however, he is aiming to gain industry experience in the first instance as he graduates, with his own fully-fledged business as a future prospect.
Able to repair and clean older jewellery, Ed enjoys re-imagining antique jewellery to give it a new life while reducing the impact of his craft on the planet.
