Chengcheng Deng’s works are inspired by traditional culture from childhood memories. She extracted different elements from her childhood memories of spending time with family, such as traditional Chinese patterns, various colors, and different materials.
Chengcheng Deng hopes that her works can convey a warm and soothing feeling, so she used soft felt yarn and wool to make her collection, and integrated rich colors. She collected many gifts with auspicious meanings from her family, such as traditional silver jewelry and traditional embroidered patterns woven by her grandmother. She was also influenced by these traditional cultures, and she incorporated traditional blessings and symbolic patterns into her works by learning weaving and felting from her loved ones. Melting the silver jewelry gifted by relatives into silver blocks, she believed that these silver pieces had the magical power of blessings and used them to create works.
In modern society, many people are busy with work and life. The purpose of Chengcheng Deng is to share her beautiful memories and the blessings of her loved ones with others. When she feels anxious and tired in daily life, she can use these works to soothe her body and mind. At the same time, soft materials and colors related to childhood also evoke warm memories of childhood for the audience, allowing people to briefly escape from the anxious and busy life and immerse themselves in their beautiful memories.
