The work I create is centres around embroidery. My work involves abstracted imagery from nature and explores concepts which are driven by thought-provoking social issues. I like it when my work intrigues people and leaves them pondering. I use beads and sequins to create texture and embellishment that is purposefully tactile.
‘Traditions to Trends’ is a collection of embroidered bags, each one inspired by the three women in my life who have impacted me creatively; my nan, mum, and sister. To reflect the differences in generations, a range of contrasting techniques have been used including needlepoint, digital embroidery, and embellishment.
