I am a colour print and surface design enthusiast. I would describe my personal style as joyful and light-hearted, yet no-nonsense. The playful but conceptual narrative that runs throughout my work reflects this distinctive creative vision.
Throughout my studies I worked on a variety of projects which developed my ability to adapt to change and embrace new creative challenges. I am seeking postgraduate opportunities, in which I am eager to apply my creative spirit and eye for design within the interior and fashion industries.
This series of tactile and intriguing fabric design statements for interiors are a response to the legacy of my great-great-grandfather who was an inventor and engineer. His meticulous work spanned from optical lens manufacture to inventing the dimples in golf balls after noticing that balls with dents and chips or ‘nicks and pits’ as early golfers called them travelled further.
Inspired by his precise engineering drawings the design work explores ideas of movement, sound and optics through optical and detailed imagery. Techniques such as smock pleating, screen-printing and devore have been carefully combined to evoke precision and attention to detail but also embracing irregularities.
The diverse final collection feels effortlessly modern and fresh, and aims to stimulate curiosity, enticing the observer to appreciate details that could easily be overlooked.
