I am primarily interested in the combination of materials and forms, combining the ancient with the modern. The characteristics of different times and different materials and shapes can produce more sophisticated idea types and bring new aesthetic feeling.
In this series of works, I use plique-a-jour enamelling. My main idea of project comes from cloning and bionics. The question of whether cloning and bionics will bring unknown disasters or opportunities to human beings is similar to the speculative question of whether there is a clear boundary between dreams and reality put forward by Chinese philosophical thinker Zhuangzi. There is a Chinese idiom ‘Zhuangsheng, dreaming butterfly’.
So, I chose butterfly and added mechanical elements to express the struggle against dream and reality, original mind and change. Each of my works consists of two or more pieces, and the wearer can choose different numbers to wear. Everything in the world is constantly changing, and so is life. Any two opposites are interchangeable, nothing is eternal. So, with that in mind, I want to show my understanding of this philosophical speculation through contemporary jewellery.
