I am a print and surface designer with an interest in both contemporary and traditional print processes. Eager to apply my multidisciplinary design knowledge, I have produced a colourful and richly textured textile collection, targeted towards the womenswear fashion market. My work aims to reflect the intricate simplicities of the natural world which characterises my style.
‘Endless Summer’ is a printed textile collection for the commercial womenswear fashion market which aims to highlight feelings of relief and liberation as the national lockdown was lifted. As a reminiscent account of my personal journey, I have drawn inspiration from the abnormal and transcendent feelings I experienced during the summer of 2020; a time in which I was able to reconnect with family and experience untouched nature through the limitations of lockdown in an urban neighbourhood.
Screen and digitally printed imagery capture natural formations and recognises hidden, ‘unseen’ or ‘unrealised’ elements that became prominent through a new appreciation for sceneries of the natural world. The resulting collection is both sombre and optimistic, reflecting on a feeling of contentment, but also contemplative of the conflicting emotions of the time.
