My name is Yutong Jiang, born in Nanjing, China, and I am a student studying BA (Hons) International Jewellery Business at Birmingham City University.
During my study at BCU in the UK, I have cultivated a sound grasp of jewellery and business expertise with a focus on jewellery identification, diamond grading and gem identification, product promotion and marketing of luxury jewellery brands. This has provided me with a unique opportunity to learn jewellery marketing and business management. In the in-depth studies of the history and culture of the jewellery industry and brand strategy, I became totally enchanted with the charm of jewellery, jewellery design and jewellery culture. Being highly motivated has been invaluable in using my enthusiasm in studying and gained the satisfying academic performances for my efforts. The professional and varied content and knowledge taught by the lecturers has nurtured my preliminary idea of developing wider cultural knowledge.
To get in touch with a wider range of knowledge about jewellery and cultural relics, and foster a deeper understanding of cultural and creative industries, at the beginning of 2020, I seized the internship opportunity at Nanjing Museum, one of the three major museums in China. I was able to work alongside a great many precious collections and welcomed a large number of visitors every day. Over the period, I introduced the basic information of the museum to overseas tourists and showed them parts of the collections.
My three-year undergraduate education in the UK is one of the most influential experiences in my life, where I have experienced the fascination of British culture, history, scenery and humanities while laying a solid theoretical foundation.
