Hello, I’m Kerryn, a final year MA Landscape Architecture student at Birmingham City University (I also work in Learning and Development – part time).
Since embarking on the conversion course in 2018, I’ve been broadening my capabilities from organisational development into landscape, a field that fascinates me, and incorporates my varied interests: in design, in people and in our environment.
I have a degree in geography and have been keen to pursue landscape architecture for many years. I am excited at the prospect of taking the next step and putting my diverse skillset into practice, within a landscape architecture or urban design context.
For my thesis project, I have been investigating climate change and sustainable food production systems. My project focuses on transforming the former Smithfield Markets site in Birmingham into a huge urban tea garden, reinforcing the city’s heritage links with tea. With the concept of infusion, the project is intended to draw people together, connecting them through healthy food and drink, to improve wellbeing, access to nature, and aid environmental sustainabiliTEA.
