I am an interior architecture and design graduate, now furthering my research in sustainability and biomaterial design.
My passion and drive for sustainable, accessible products whilst using waste as a resource excites my work with endless possibilities. My vision as a designer is a change in innovation. Creating new materials from already existing resources is critical. To upcycle this ‘waste’ and give it a new value as a desirable alternative to non-renewable sources. I now start seeing waste, not as waste but as an opportunity for a new purpose. We need to re-evaluate what we consider waste and salvage products and materials that can be revitalised into a new alternative creation.
The design intent for the project is to experiment with biomaterials and biodegradable matter to offer theoretical alternatives to non-renewable materials. The aim is to understand the possibilities biomaterials can have in retail interior spaces and make waste a desirable resource which creates a regenerative lifecycle.
This project has been nominated for the Interior Educator Awards under the categories “Craft and Making” and “Climate Emergency and Sustainability”. I’m also excited to announce this project has been selected to be published in Dezeen.
