I am a graduating BA architecture student, who is open to many paths within the architecure and design fields. I have noticed over the years, that I have developed a passion for others, and seeing how each community can be bettered to house each demographic.
My final year project focused on the elderly within wednesbury. I began this project by Looking into the social habits of elderly people within wednesbury. Upon research I found that this community would benefit from a care home for dementia patients, that incorporates the public.
Dementia describes the loss of cognitive behaviours such as memory, thinking interfering with daily activities.
The main idea I have been exploring is, social interaction in public spaces between the elderly and the general public: specifically between children and the elderly. This is where the initial idea of having a playground space came from.
Within this space, residents are able to come down and spend time… this space can be viewed from the courtyard balconies which encourages a flow of people into the space. Upon entry to the space, the cafe is situated on the right side, another space open to the public.
