Hi, I’m Nilaya! As a final-year Interior Architecture & Design student, I have dedicated the past three years to refining my skills in creative solutions to interior challenges. My educational journey has given me a comprehensive skill set that I am keen to expand on within the industry. I enjoy the entire design process—from initial research and conceptualisation to detailed design development and final resolution. My passion lies in creating experiential designs that go beyond aesthetics to evoke emotions and enhance the user experience. I am committed to making a positive impact through my work, striving to design spaces that are beautiful, functional and meaningful. My Final Major Project Overview: Heritage Haven transforms a Grade II listed building into a vibrant cultural community hub designed to reconnect Ugandan Asians and the public with their heritage following the expulsion of Asians from Uganda in 1972. This project aims to honour their history, foster a sense of community, and provide a multifunctional space that blends cultural, culinary, and well-being experiences. The building’s transformation is guided by a narrative journey that evokes a sense of nostalgia while celebrating Ugandan Asian culture.
